A Constructed Phenomenology: Phenomenological Responses to Architectural Environments

This study reaches to obtain a more solidified comprehension of the unique and intimate ways individuals experience and respond to various architectural environments. Observing urban, suburban, rural, desert, and mountainous topography in conjunction with phenomenological literature, a qualitative methodology will be utilized to begin to comprehend this phenomena. Participants will be shown original films and will be asked to write responses to open-ended, phenomenological questions. Taking from Martin Heidegger, one can understand the self as being in the world, thus shaped by our experiences in the world, thus the importance to understand the self in relation to architecture emerges.
