The intense forces seismic in the structures can cause that the materials that integrate them exceed their load capacity, presenting non lineal behavior. For this reason, it is necessary to study the seismic response of inelastic structural systems analytically. In the present paper, three procedures of least-square for the adjustment of parameters of analytic models with base in the model of Ramberg–Osgood without degradation of material and with degradation in the resistance and stiffness are applied. The movement equations and of energy input by seismic for the study of the response of structural systems with devicesdissipating energy, are developed. Finally, a behavior index to evaluate the capacity of the devices to dissipate the energy for earthquake and to reduce the maxim response seismic, are proposed. Of agreement with the obtained results, the analytic model and the proposed adjustment procedure are able to predict reasonably the force-displacement relationship of metallic materials subjected to intense cyclic forces.
