Abstracts

examined by HOX B3 rabbit polyclonal antibodies, Santa Cruz, USA, H50 sc 28606, dilution 1:100. Evaluation semiquantitatively: from 0 (no positive structures in the visual field) to ++++ (abundance). Results

S3

70th min (p < 0.006). During the listening of recorded music, their HR decreased and differed from the 75th min (p < 0.023). Live lullabies were more effective for the behavior in 65 min, when compared with the effect of recorded lullabies (p < 0.02). Oxygen saturation did not change during the listening of music.

HOX B3 positive structures appeared mainly in the syncytiotrophoblast and Hofbauer cells. Abundance of HOX B3 was observed in Hofbauer cells of a 29 week placenta and a term placenta, both cases of early neonatal sepsis; syncytiotrophoblast of those placentas showed an occasional number of positive structures. The other term placentas showed occasional to numerous number of HOX B3 positive structures in the Hofbauer cells; occasional to moderate in the syncytiotrophoblast. Other pre-term placentas revealed few structures in the Hofbauer cells and few to moderate structures in the syncytiotrophoblast. The least number of both structures (none to occasional) was observed in three cases: two term—one healthy child, the other child with brain death, and a 23 weeks case.

HOX B3 gene instantly persists in the Hofbauer cells of placentas from various gestations; syncytiotrophoblast shows variable distribution. Lack of gene seems to be rare and probably predicts severe decompensation of placenta. doi:10.1016/j.earlhumdev.2010.09.013

AO-06. Live versus recorded lullabies for infants of less than 32 weeks' gestation Rasa Garunkstienea, Ingrida Ulozieneb, Egle Markunienea a Department of Neonatology, Kaunas University of Medicine, Kaunas, Lithuania b Department of Otolaryngology, Kaunas University of Medicine, Kaunas, Lithuania Aim This study aims to compare the effect of live and recorded lullabies on the physiological and behavioral parameters of stable preterm infants (less than 32 weeks' gestation). Materials and methods

In early adaptation period for the preterm infants (less than 32 weeks' gestation) live lullabies are more effective, calming and decreasing heart rate, when compared with the recorded lullabies.
