ARCHAEOLOGY AND DEVELOPMENT IN CONTEMPORARY NIGERIA

this write-up is a project work given to students in the department of archaeology and anthropology. this write-up tries to reveal the problems being faced in Nigeria as a result of government and people's attitude towards Archaeological knowledge and research in Nigeria. the Ignoramous attitudes and characters of the people, coupled with archaeology not being on the number one agenda of the various government bodies (NCMM), and their questions as to what relevance is archaeological knowledge  in the development of the country are parts of what this paper tries to attend to. As a student of archaeology, I just feel that this kind of work should not be kept for assignment sake alone. there's bound to be errors, mistakes in the
