Building Sustainability Assessment: Centennial Plaza - Building C, Sydney, Australia

Various rating tools have been utilized by building owners Investa to measure and track the effects of building improvements in various key areas regarding sustainability. Currently the sustainability performance of Building C is assessed with an accredited NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System). A NABERS rating system provides a comparative indicator of the building's impact on the natural environment in relation to similar buildings (Eco Energy Efficiency, 2012). Investa are also required under the Energy Efficiency Disclosure Bill 2010 to submit a Building Energy Efficiency Certificate (BEEC) in order to be able to lease there building to tenants (Eco Energy Efficiency, 2012).  Furthermore, Investa also conducts a Tenancy Lighting Assessment to track individual tenants energy outputs. To achieve even greater recognition of its successful sustainability outcomes, Investa could seek certification by another rating scheme such as Green Star.
