Galen (129-216 A.D.) was a prolific writer, mostly important for the development of medicine. However he is not receiving the deserved attention by researchers in Lusophonic world. Here we aim to display a Portuguese translation of On the Medical Sects for Beginners 1.64.1- 1.69.5, with introduction and Greek text. At the introduction we dissert on why studying Galen’s On the Medical Sects is useful as an external source for comprehending Sextus Empiricus and his empiricism.
