PORTLEX is a web application based on a relational database. MySQL is a popular relational database management system (RDBMS) used in web applications.

The PORTLEX database has been developed in PHP using Yii framework, which allows, among other things, an automatic code generation.

The database will be soon hosted on a private server and it runs on Linux.

Equivalence PORTLEX gives equivalents and synonyms in every language on the basis of shared signifieds.

Syntax Actantial analysis include descriptions of formal realizations and actant combinations.

Morphology For each equivalent, the dictionary provides the gender, the number and the formal realizations of all its possible actants.

Examples Actant realizations are illustrated by examples extracted from a reference corpus in each language.

Semantics A reference definition is provided for every set of equivalents. Semantic roles and categorial features are also defined for each actant and its formal realizations.

Comments Contrastive comments or phraseological notes are also provided for many equivalents.

Reference corpora

CREA Corpus de referencia del español actual. Real Academia Española.

FRANTEXT Analyse et traitement informatique de la langue française (CNRS/Université de Lorraine)..

DT Das Deutsche Referenzkorpus. Institut für Deutsche Sorache..

CORIS Corpus dell’italiano scritto. Università di Bologna. itWaC and La Reppublica are also used.

CORGA / TILG Corpus de referencia do galego actual and Tesouro informatizado da lingua galega. CRPIH / ILG-USC.

The Web Reference corpora have their limits. Sometimes the Web as a corpus is the only option.

PORTLEX is like a...
