Brazil World Cup 2014
The FIFA World Cup has become one of the most excitement sporting events all around the globe, the first tournament started in 1930 in Uruguay, the rest is now history. This summer the 2014 FIFA World Cup was hosted in Brazil; the five times champion of this tournament. The excitement grew when the destination of the World Cup was Brazil, since this country is well known for its beautiful football and what a better country to host the World Cup than Brazil, which is considered "The home of football". FIFA is the well-known organization that is in charge of the World Cup, which recently has been criticized by their massive corruption and bad management.
The World Cup has now become the most excitement-sporting event there is, but this first started back in Uruguay in 1930 where the first World Cup was played with only 13 participating countries, in present days there's now 32 qualified countries participating in the World Cup, you can really see how this tournament has hugely grown from its start. The World Cup has become every footballers dream to play on it, and especially winning it and proving that their country is the best in the world in the sport of football. Every participating country has the right to choose 23 players that will represent their country with pride giving it all on the field as their entire country will support them all the way.
In 2007 FIFA announced the destination of the 2014 FIFA World Cup; Brazil. Everyone knows the history that Brazil has with this event, and this made it the perfect destination for the World Cup and also the people of Brazil are very passionate about their football almost considering it a religion so you know that Brazil hosting this event would be a perfect fit. The favorite German team won the tournament and took its fourth title, by defeating Argentina 1-0 in the final. This World cup fulfilled everybody's expectations; there were a lot of goals and last minute thrillers that kept us on the edge of our seats.
Federation Internationale de Football Association or as we know it; FIFA is the organization that is in charge of all professional football activities around the world, which happens to be also in charge of the World Cup. Sepp Blatter, FIFA president, has been president for four straight elections and he is now looking to win his fifth consecutive election. This has caused all type of corruption since there has not been a fresh start or change in the president position. This FIFA World Cup added more controversies because there was a lot of money spent by the Brazil government, which made Brazilian citizens very angry making protests against their government. This is the way the World Cup is managed, Brazil Government invest on this big stadiums, hotels, transportation and at the end of the World Cup FIFA takes all the earnings, making this an unfair business with the Host nation.
This Brazil World Cup 2014 left us with happy and some sad moments, but the FIFA World cup makes us come together as one nation and there's no better way to support your country with friends and family. We can now acknowledge how the FIFA World Cup is organized and managed, it's sad how can a beautiful sport is now just a big money business for many people, but at the end of the day this is still a sport that unifies us, makes us work as a team, and especially giving us joy, and if there's still people who love the game of football there's no money in the world that could take this sport from us.
