VIGILÂNCIA, JUSTIÇA E AUTO-DEFESA ARMADA NO MÉXICO: ATORES NÃO-ESTATAIS DE CONTROLE SOCIAL

The article discusses the emergence of citizen responses to violence in both urban social segments, such as in rural communities, mainly characterized by the appropriation and privatization of security. Proposes understand these responses, as part of a continuum in particularized risk management, which takes many forms, from the field of private security, electronic surveillance and urban enclosure, until vigilante justice and armed self-defense. All within the framework of neoliberal governmentality where exert effects of social control. These phenomena involve moments of reappropriation and retention of strength and control, beyond state institutions. The tendency to reappropriation of safety and regulation of violence in those particular areas, the ways in which this has appeared (or defensive enclosures urban communities), speaks differently territorial government reorganization and the population contained in these fields. The novelty regarding safety that private orders at stake, is precisely the tendency to appropriation / privatization and particularly its tendency to dissociation of the state monopoly of violence.
