XXII Bienal da Real Sociedad Española de Historia Natural - coimbra, 6-9 Setembro 2017

Dear colleague, The Real Sociedade Espanhola de História Natural (RSEHN), as one of the oldest and prestigious Iberian scientific societies, will celebrate its XXII Biennial in Coimbra, Portugal, between 6-9 September, in what will be another International Scientific Meeting with a strong Iberian character, to which we address the present invitation.For this edition, RSEHN counts with the collaboration of the University of Coimbra, through a joint organization with the Department of Earth Sciences, the Department of Life Sciences, the Science Museum and many other supporting institutions.The main theme will be "The Maps of Nature", for its great scientific, socioeconomic and technological, environmental and educational importance, with a strong interdisciplinary character, in which Natural Sciences are allied to Physical Geography, Archaeology and History, but also to Education and Dissemination in Science, since the diffusion of knowledge and scientific literacy must be for all people. Other topics related to these areas are also welcome.The spirit of the scientific meeting aims to strengthen ties between teachers and researchers, scientists and students of the two Iberian countries, at a time of great challenges for the scientific community, where interdisciplinary and international cooperation is of growing importance. For this goal, will be adopted as languages the Castilian, Portuguese and English.Inscription fees are almost symbolic for students and with significant discounts for members of supporting institutions.RSEHN will enable all participants to publish in their prestigious scientific journals, whose high graphic quality will be extended to the program and to the book of abstracts. O tema principal será “Os Mapas da Natureza”, pela sua grande importância científica, socioeconómica e tecnológica, ambiental e educativa, com forte cariz interdisciplinar, em que se aliam às Ciências Naturais tópicos ligados à Geografia Física, à Arqueologia e História, mas também à Educação e Divulgação em Ciência, pois a difusão do conhecimento e a literacia científica devem ser para todos. São, também, bem-vindos outros temas ligados a estas áreas.  O espírito da reunião científica visa estreitar laços entre professores e investigadores, cientistas e alunos dos dois países ibéricos, num tempo de grandes desafios para a comunidade científica, em que a cooperação interdisciplinar e internacional adquire importância crescente. Para tal serão adotadas como línguas o castelhano, o português e o inglês. O custo de inscrição é quase simbólico para alunos e com descontos apreciáveis para membros das instituições apoiantes.A RSEHN facultará a todos os participantes a possibilidade de publicarem nos seus periódicos científicos prestigiados, cuja elevada qualidade gráfica se estenderá ao programa e ao livro de resumos. Para além da publicação de artigos científicos no Boletim da RSEHN, será lançada durante o evento uma Memória especial dedicada ao tema da Bienal.
