8 Natural Cleaning Recipes

Mother Nature has given us a few natural ingredients that work just as well with cleaning the house as the commercial detergents. In fact, most commercial detergents are useful, because they contain extracts of these particular products.

The ingredients I'm talking about are: lemon juice, vinegar, baking soda, salt, essential oils and other things one usually uses in the kitchen.

Cleaning Recipe #1: All-Purpose Cleaning Spray 1. Mix one part water and one part lemon juice in a clean bowl; 2. Shake thoroughly; 3. Spray the solution on the surface and wipe with a clean cloth.

Cleaning Recipe #2: Wood Polish and Cleaner 1. Fill a spray bottle with a quarter cup of olive oil; 2. Add 8 teaspoons of white vinegar and 4 teaspoons of lemon juice; 3. Shake thoroughly to mix the ingredients; 4. Apply the solution to a clean cloth or soft towel and wipe.

Cleaning Recipe #3: Insect Repellent 1. Fill a spray bottle with freshly squeezed lemon juice and spray the window ledges and door edges. 2. Squeeze some lemon juice in the holes where ants may break into your home. 3. Make a solution of 4 lemons juice and 2 litres of water and wash the floors of your home.

Cleaning Recipe #4: Microwave Cleaner 1. Pour three tablespoons of lemon juice in a bowl. 2. Add half a cup of water. 3. Put it in the microwave oven for 5-10 minutes. The steam will loosen the dirty residues and make them easy to remove. 4. Remove the bowl. 5. Wipe clean.

Cleaning Recipe #5: Glass Cleaner 1. Fill a spray bottle with warm water. 2. Add 3 tablespoons of white freshly squeezed lemon juice. 3. Screw the cap of the bottle and shake well. 4. Spray the glass surface and then wipe with a clean cloth. 5. Don't use a paper towel or lint cloth, as it will leave behind small lint balls that will make the glass surface looking dull.

Cleaning Recipe #6: Air Freshener 1. Boil 150 ml of water and dissolve a packet of gelatin into it. 2. Remove from the heat and add another 120 ml of cold water to the mix. 3. Add a few drops of vodka and a teaspoon of your chosen essential oil. 4. Stir until well blended. 5. Add a few drops of natural food colouring (optional). 6. Pour the mix into pretty glass containers and allow to set. 7. Dot the gel fresheners around the house, but away from direct sunlight

Cleaning Recipe #7: Herbal Sachets 1. Another interesting way to make an air freshener is using herbal sachets. You can either buy them, or make them yourself. 2. Lavender bags are a popular choice, which can be easily made with scraps of fabric and filled with dried lavender flower heads. 3. Other herbs such as rosemary, thyme and lemon balm can be dried and used too.

Cleaning Recipe #8: Room Fragrance 1. Boil a litre of water with half dozen cloves; 2. Add a couple of cinnamon sticks, two apple peels and an unpeeled sliced orange; 3. Allow to simmer and soon your home will smell deliciously.
