Summary Amycus albipalpus n. sp. is described and illustrated from the eastern department of Meta, Colombia: the first official record of the genus from the country. A. spectabilis C. L. Koch, 1846 is recorded for the first time from Colombia, from the eastern and Amazonian departments of Meta and Guaviare, respectively.

Introduction The neotropical genus Amycus C. L. Koch, 1846 comprises a group of very similar species with a long and complex taxonomic history (Galiano 1963a, 1968; Ruiz & Brescovit 2008). They are hard to identify without the examination of the male palpal characters, a fact that can be seen by the huge number of synonyms, transfers, and species inquirenda in this genus, which is in need of an urgent, comprehensive revision (Galiano 1963a, 1968; World Spider Catalog 2015). The genus was described by C. L. Koch in 1846 to include the type species A. igneus (Perty, 1833), difficult to identify, from Brazil, and A. flavolineatus C. L. Koch, 1846 from México, a species that sensu Simon (1901: 423) in Galiano (1968: 276) could not be a proper Amycus. The recognizable A. spectabilis C. L. Koch, 1846 from Brazil was also included. Subsequently, different authors (e.g. Taczanowski 1878; Simon 1900, 1901; Galiano 1963a,b, 1968; Ruiz & Brescovit 2008; Courtial et al. 2014; Rubio 2014) made additions, changes, transfers, and new reports of the genus. Makhan (2006) described A. amrishi from Suriname, which could be a junior synonym of A. flavicomis Simon, 1900, based on the male palp morphology, and the poor general description of the type material. The genus includes eight recognizable species, distributed from French Guiana, Perú, and Brazil to Argentina. They can be diagnosed by the presence of a large, conical patellar apophysis in retroventral or retrolateral disposition, chelicerae with two large promarginal and four to five retromarginal teeth, and males with robust and short palps (Galiano 1963a, 1968; World Spider Catalog 2015). Amycus albipalpus n. sp. is here described and illustrated from the eastern department of Meta, Colombia, becoming the first species of the genus to be officially described in this country. This species can be easily differentiated from all other species of the genus by the great development of the patellar apophysis. A. spectabilis C. L. Koch, 1846 is recorded for the first time for the country, from the eastern department of Meta and the Amazonian department of Guaviare.

Material and methods The material examined is deposited in the Colección de Aracnología del Instituto de Ciencias Naturales of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia (ICN-Ar, Eduardo Flórez), Bogotá, Colombia. The multifocal photographs and measurements were taken by means of an AmScope digital camera, attached to an Advanced Optics JSZ-6 stereomicroscope and united by the freeware image stacking software CombineZP (Hadley 2010). The format of descriptions follows in part Galiano (1963), and leg spination of Platnick & Shadab (1975), with minor changes. Abbreviations used in the text and figures are: AER, anterior eye row; ALE, anterolateral eyes; OCL, ocular quadrangle (length of the dorsal eye field); PER, posterior eye row; RTA, retrolateral tibial apophysis of the male palp; d, dorsal; di, distal; me, medial; p, prolateral; pr, proximal (referring to the segment portion closest to the body); r, retrolateral; v, ventral. The information in square brackets was added to complement the label data. Records without coordinates in the label were approximated to municipalities using Google Earth. Measurements are in millimeters. Family SALTICIDAE Blackwall, 1841 Genus Amycus C. L. Koch, 1846 Amycus albipalpus n. sp. (Figs. 1–4) Types: Male holotype from Finca El Caduceo, near Río Camoa, San Martín, Meta, Colombia, 400 m a.s.l., 12 May 2006, Estudiantes Taxonomía Animal UN coll., 3.679605°N 73.643761°W, ICN-Ar 6780. One male paratype from Pozo Azul, Vereda La Vanguardia, Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia, [325 m a.s.l.], 16 April 2005, Estudiantes Sistemática Animal UN coll., [4.173846°N 73.624377°W], ICN-Ar 6738. One male paratype from Bosque Bavaria, Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia, [475 m a.s.l.], 14 May 2005, P. Restrepo coll., [4.180833°N, 73.647777°W], ICN-Ar 6702. Etymology: The trivial name is derived from the Latin albus, (white) and palpus for the male palp, referring to the white dorsal coloration of the cymbium of the male palp. Diagnosis: Males of A. albipalpus n. sp. can be distinguished easily from all other species in the genus by the presence of a larger retroventral patellar apophysis, that is wide and acute, and a longer and acute RTA (Figs. 2–3). Description of holotype male: Total length 5.55. Carapace 2.72 long, 2.27 wide, 1.80 high (Fig. 1). OCL 1.16. AER 2.05 wide and PER 1.82 wide. Sternum 0.96 long, 0.96 wide. Labium 0.42 long, 0.43 wide. Chelicerae (Fig. 4) with four retromarginal teeth, and two promarginal teeth with the angular smaller than the other. Legs: III I IV II. Leg macrosetae, Femora: I-II d 1 di, p 2 di; III d 1 di, p 1-2 di; IV d 1 di. Patellae: I-IV r 1 me. Tibiae: I v 2-2-2, p 1 pr; II v 1-2-2, p 1-0-1; III v 1-1, p 1-1-1, r 1-1-1; IV v 1-1, p 1-1, r 1 di. Metatarsi: I-II v 2-2; III v 1-2, p 1-1, r 1-2; IV v 1-2, p 1-1, r 1-1. Palp (Figs. 2–3) patella with a wide-acute retroventral apophysis and a long-acute RTA. Coloration (Fig. 1): Chelicerae and carapace dark brown. Palps dark brown

with the integument of the cymbium very white. Carapace with two rounded light brown spots, one anteriorly between ALE, and the second above the thoracic groove. Leg I more robust than other legs, with patella and tibia dark brown. Legs II–IV yellow. Abdomen brown with a longitudinal cream colored stripe. Spinnerets black.
