Apologetic Textbook Assessment Criteria Internal I.

The internal assessment of the text: A.

Fit the classical methodology of apologetics by: 1.

Addresses existence of God and the theistic world view;

2.

Addresses other world views opposed to Theism;

3.

Addresses the historical truth of Christianity.

Provides content that covers the subject in a systematic manner by 1.

Integrates apologetic information into an overall argument for Christianity;

2.

Addresses significant objections to the Christian faith and/or answers problems and questions.

Reading Level Assessment: At the appropriate reading level or slightly lower: A.

Flesch readability test around 65 or better;

B.

Flesch–Kinkaid Grade Level (between 8–12 grades).

External III.

The external organization of the text: A.

Provides an introduction/summary statement for each chapter;

B.

Provides instructional objectives for each chapter that cover the content of the chapter;

C.

Provides review or guide questions at the end or beginning of each chapter

D.

Questions and objectives help reinforce and analyze the subject material of the text;

E.

Makes use of multi–level headings for each chapter;

F.

Makes use of various pictures, tables, charts, illustrations that reinforce the subject content discussed in each chapter of the text;

G.

Suggests further books and/or resources for further study in each chapter;

H.

Provides end matter that contains an index, table of contents, and glossary.
