Part 1 is Research Project (10%).

Part 2 is PowerPoint presentation for part 1 (5%).

Demonstrate an appropriate knowledge and understanding of the law regulating the use of information and data Distinguish and transform ethical guidance for the IT professional, IT users and professional service industry Analyze and formulate the ethical issues associated with social networks, social business practices and ethics in virtual life communities Generate ideas and values related to ethical issues at IT workplaces, organizations and command on the productivity and quality of life. The student will select and apply reasoned solutions to the ethical issues raised at workplace.

Part 1 Requirements You are required to do a research on one of the following topics: 1. “Computer Crimes” including Cyber-crime and discuss the following:  Common types of crimes using computers  What type and how much is the financial loss.  Ways in which computer and internet related crimes can be prevented.  How is Fiji at risk as compared to other countries?  2. Digital Divide in Health Care (Refer to Case 3 pg 295 from Chap 8 – The impact of IT on productivity & quality of life.) 3. Intellectual Property (refer to case 2 pg 228 from chap 6- Intellectual Property.)

Use Harvard referencing techniques to reference all sources used. 1. Up to five (5) marks may be deducted for poor referencing or having no references. 1|Page

2. Use quotation marks for direct quotes and when directly quoting you must include the page number with the reference as per the Harvard referencing standards. ALL assignments will be checked for plagiarism (material copied from other students and/or material copied from other sources). If you are found to have plagiarized material or if you have used someone else’s words without appropriate referencing, you will be penalized for plagiarism which could result in zero marks for the whole assignment. In some circumstances a more severe penalty may be imposed. Format for your report       
