alkylation, arylation, dealkylation, dearylation, C-acylation, olefination O 0280 Copper(II) Pivalate/Oxone: An Improved Promoter System for 47 - 090 Aryl Transfer via Organo-Bismuth Reagents. — In connection with a medicinal chemistry project, a method for arylation of OH-groups prone to elimination is desired. Thus, triarylbismuth reagents (II) and (V) under oxidative conditions in the presence of copper pivalate are found to be excellent arylating reagents for alcohols such as (I) and (IV). Amines [cf. (VII)] can be arylated under similar conditions. — (SHEPPARD, GEORGE S.; Synlett (1999) 8, 1207-1210; Pharm. Prod. Div., Abbott Lab., Abbott Park, IL 60064, USA; EN)
