Phase Equilibria of the 1/2Bi2 O3 –CaO System in Oxygen at 1 atm Pressure. — Phase equilibria in the title system are studied over the temp. range 650–1050 ◦ C in 1 atm O2 . Five stable phases with fixed stoichiometry are detected:Bi14 Ca5 O26 , Bi2 CaO4 , Bi6 Ca4 O13 , Bi2 Ca2 O5 , and CaO. A face-centered cubic solid solution phase extends from pure Bi2 O3 to a CaO content of 27 mol% at 816 ◦ C. It is replaced by monoclinic Bi2 O3 and a rhombohedral solid solution with 12 mol% CaO in the Bi-rich region.
