Alkylating Agents from Sugars. 42 - 216 Alkyl Hexopyranoside Derivatives as Carrier Systems for Chlorambucil. — The title derivatives (IV), (VIII), and (XIII) in which the alkylating agent chlorambucil is linked at C-2 or C-3 of the sugar are synthesized by direct coupling, cf. (III) and (VII), or via a spacer, cf. (XII). The starting materials are easily available. The cytotoxicity of (IVb) and (VIII) is tested using two different procedures.
