ABSTRACT

Manulchan, Detira Putri. 1006010020. The Effect of Mind Mapping Strategy on
Students' Achievement in Writing Recount. A Thesis. Faculty of Teacher
Training and Education. University of Al Washliyah. 2014.

The objective of the study was to find out if Mind Mapping Strategy
significantly affects students' achievement in writing recount. This study
was conducted by using experimental research design. The population was all
students of grade VIII of SMP YP. Gemilang Bangsa Beringin with the total
number of students was 60 students. There were two parallel classes namely
classes VIII-1 and VIII-2. The sample was selected by applying cluster
random sampling technique. The sample were divided into two groups, namely
experimental and control groups. The class VIII-1 consisting of 30 students
was the experimental group taught by using Mind Mapping Strategy and the
class VIII-2 consisting of 30 students was the control group taught by
without using Mind Mapping Strategy. The instrument used to collect data
was writing test. The result of the data analysis by applying t-test
formula showed that tobs value (4.09) was higher than ttable value (2.000)
(tobs > ttable = 4.09 > 2.000 (p=0.05)). Based on the finding, the Ha was
accepted and H0 was successfully rejected. Thus, Mind Mapping Strategy
significantly affects students' achievement in writing recount.

teman. Namun yang paling lemah dari itu adalah orang yang mendapatkan
banyak teman tetapi menyia-nyiakannya. (Ali bin Abi Thalib)

DEDICATION

This thesis is dedicated to:

My beloved parents, Nursamsiah Dewi Manulang and Tirmizi Chaniago,
especially for my mother. Thanks for giving me advice, love, support
and your patients for me.

IBU

Masih kuingat jasamu

Masih kuingat usahamu dulu

Walau dulu ku masih kecil

Demi anakmu engkau lakukan apapun

Demi anakmu engkau rela menjadi lelaki

Ibu…

Maafkan anakmu ini

Selalu membuatmu bersedih

Selalu menjadi beban pikiranmu

Ibu…

Walau engkau hanya seorang ibu

Tapi bagiku engkau juga ayahku

Kau beriku perlindungan mental

Kerja kerasmu kan ku ingat

Mungkin tidak sekarang

Mungkin nanti

Kaukan rasakan buah yang kau tanam sendiri

Kesuksesan anak-anakmu

Ibu….

Terimalah bakti dan maafku

For my lovely mom

Meskipun banyak masalah

Meskipun kita sering ribut

Namun hal itu yang sangat dirindukan

Kalian adalah keluargaku

Sampai akhir hayatku

Kita adalah satu keluarga

Kita adalah satu kekuatan untuk orangtua kita

Keluarga tetaplah keluarga

Dengan karakter yang berbeda-beda

Kita tetap keluarga

We are one big family

For now, tomorrow and forever…………
