Water Drop Tea House: A Convenient Dining Place
The aroma of various foods from fast-food restaurants like McDonalds and Jollibee is one of the factors that make most of the Filipinos especially the youth crave for it. Unfortunately, some Filipinos do not have any idea on how much preservatives various foods like french fries from fast-food restaurants contain. Preservatives are not good to people's health because it weaken the body slowly. On the other hand, eating in a vegetarian restaurant, for example, the Water Drop Tea House inside the Mabuhay temple which is located at 656 Pablo Ocampo St., Malate, Manila Philippines is obviously healthier than the fast food restaurants like Jollibee and Mc Donald's. The Water Drop Tea House is established to offer services for other people who are looking for a convenient dining place and peaceful sound.
The café in Mabuhay Temple is a convenient dining place. As I enter the Buddhist Temple, I bow to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva above the wishing pond in the left side of the stairs. As I continue walking, I see the big smile of the receptionist joining her palms and saying "OMITUOFO". I return her big smile with my sweetest grin. Gracefully walking to my favorite restaurant, I see already the huge thick crystalized wall that indicates the Water Drop Tea House. As I open the enormous door, I already smell the french fries that make me drool. As I sit at the feather-like chair which are purely 100% cotton, I feel very relax to the extent that I am about to sleep. However, as I anticipate the menu on the table, I see the list of different food that Tea House sells. The café offers vegetarian food like Adobo Rice Topping, Dumpling, Wanton Noodle Soup, and Hong Shao Noodles which cost from 100 to 180. In addition, there are also mouth-watering appetizers such as French fries, Stewed Tofu, and Veggie Chicken that cost from 60 to 80 only. The café also sells beverages like Hot Lotus Tea, Hot Milk Tea, Water Drop Iced Coffee, Iced Winter melon Tea, and others that can be bought for as low as 120. I choose to order French fries and Iced Winter Melon Tea for my afternoon snack.
Inside the Tea house, I find a peaceful sound filled with different kinds of souvenirs and books. While I am waiting for my order, I listen to the tranquil music that is calmly playing inside the café. Since there are books and souvenirs inside the café, visitors like me take a glimpse to those things. Some of the books that are available in the Tea House are 365 Days for Travelers, The Four Noble Truths: The Essence of Buddhism, The Buddhist Perspective on Life and Destiny, and one of the latest books in Buddhism, Sakyamuni Buddha. All of these books are written by an old compassionate guy, Venerable Master Hsing Yun. The Tea House also sells some Buddhism-related display like colorful Buddha's figurine, fragile lotus flowers and heart-rending Chinese books. Likewise, there are also tea cups, jars and mugs inside the Tea House that are displayed beside the counter. As I receive my order, I start eating the food that contains very light salt. While masticating the daintiest French fries, I drink the frosty Iced Winter melon Tea.
Getting inside the Water Drop Tea House makes me feel at peace and comfortable. Can Filipinos realize the importance of eating in Water Drop Tea House like having a healthier life?
