Introduction The EA803 provides a solid foundation for today’s high availability equipment, giving users critical and clean power, 24/7, without interruptions. The cost effective EA803 UPS systems are equipped with advanced features such as true online double conversion technology, a user friendly touch screen display, generator compatibility, and optional control through the network. With its wholly reliable performance, EA803 solutions are widely deployable, making them the answer to all of your high performance demands.

True Online Double Conversion The EA803 applies true online double conversion technology, providing users with clean and high quality power. The zero transfer time ensures that power is supplied without interruption, thereby fully protecting mission-critical devices.

Where will you be when the lights go out?

Wide Input Voltage Range The EA803 provides stable power to connected devices in unstable power conditions. It is capable of handling a wide input voltage range, supplying clean power in extreme circumstances.

Self-diagnosis at UPS Start Up Fans on the back of the EA803 10kVA

The UPS will perform advanced self-diagnostics to ensure the functionality of the UPS system and batteries, and to anticipate events before they occur.

IGBT The Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) is a power semiconductor device for high efficiency and fast switching, providing more reliable, clean and high efficiency power to the UPS, which is critical when using electrical equipment.

Cold Start

In the absence of any AC input, the cold start function allows users to start the UPS with the batteries, and without any damage to them or the circuits. This means that users can easily configure the UPS, even if no AC input is connected.

Lightning and Surge Protection Optional Emergency Power Off (EPO) Function The EA803 is equipped with an Emergency Power Off function, providing users with a way of immediately shutting down all output power from the UPS in the case of emergencies such as fire, flood, and overheating equipment.

The EA803 UPS systems come with lightning and surge protection as standard, thus protecting the equipment against voltage spikes. Surge protection works by channeling the extra voltage into the outlet’s groundning wire, preventing it from flowing through electronic devices, while also allowing normal voltage to be maintained.

Variable Fan Speed The intelligent variable fan speed ensures that the speed of the fans is adjusted to the amount of load and heat dissipation of the UPS.

Short Circuit and Overload Protection A short circuit is an abnormal connection between two nodes of an electrical circuit, and can cause huge damage to the UPS and any equipment attached to it. The EA803 circuit protection device will protect against potential short circuit damage, overheating, fire, or even explosions. The UPS is also equipped with overload protection, meaning that the fuse will automatically be triggered when a load exceeds its value. Both protection devices ensure the safety and reliability of the UPS and any equipment that is attached to it.

EMI RFI Noise Filter Electromagnetic interference (EMI or radio frequency interface, RFI) is a disturbance which affects an electrical circuit. The EMI RFI Noise Filter will protect the UPS system against any interference which may interrupt the effective performance of the device.

Reliability In today’s business environment, it is important to have a power infrastructure available 24/7. The EA803 is extremely reliable through the redundant design of the internal components.

Manual Bypass Switch Maintenance work can be carried out through the use of the manual bypass switch. This completely isolates the UPS’s internal components, so that minor maintenance work and repairs can be conducted without interruption to supply.

Optional External Bypass Switch The external bypass switch ensures that there is continuous power to the equipment by completely isolating the UPS bridging between it and the mains. Using this tool, users have the ability to carry out substantial interventions and even change a UPS without interruption to supply.

The EA803 is also equipped with automatic and manual transfer switches as standard, guaranteeing that power will be supplied to the load and, therefore, the equipment, even during maintenance.

The LCD display combines functionality with the provision of instant access to details of all of a system’s conditions and statuses, meaning that valuable critical data is always at an operator’s finger tips.

The need to have reliable batteries is extremely important. EAST has years of experience in the design and manufacturing of high quality batteries and through the use of the latest charging and discharging technologies you are assured that they keep supplying that critical power.

The EA803 UPS systems are equipped with a sophisticated three step charger for efficiently charging the UPS while prolonging battery life.

By adding one or more battery cabinets to the configuration, it is easy to increase the runtime of the system from several minutes up to several hours, creating a custom solution which will meet users’ varied business demands.

Step 1 The charger provides a constant charge current until the battery has reached 80% of its capacity, meaning that the UPS is ready to operate again when a new power failure occurs. The LCD display displaying all relevant information

Step 2 The charge voltage is held constant for about 60 minutes, allowing the charge current to gradually decline towards the end of this period. The battery will now have been charged to about 90% of its capacity. Step 3 The charge voltage drops to a float-charge in order to compensate for self discharge, thereby prolonging the life of the batteries.

Instalation Services Start Up Service

Going Live Service

By letting an EAST certified engineer conduct your installation, you are certain to save both time and money. With our professional approach and knowledge, we will install all of your EAST products, thereby ensuring their safety and lifespan. The start up service includes the on site installation and commisioning of your UPS systems and batteries, with the guarantee that the products will function according to EAST standards.

This is an extra feature which includes having an EAST certified engineer present on site at the time when your configuration goes live. This means that there is both an extra helping hand available if something need to be explaned and an extra quality check of the installation.

As a unique feature, EAST has included the installation of its licence free software in the start up service. EAST will perform on site installation and intergration of all EAST software.

Extra Service Support

The system monitors the charge and discharge current, temperature, and quality of each individual battery, ensuring a constant and reliable power supply to the UPS. Each individual battery is monitored through the BAT module, which is connected to the positive and negative poles of the battery. This module tests and monitors the battery and relays all relevant information to the BAT monitoring device.

Preventive Maintenance Once your confirguration is operational and active, you want to be confident that its performance is as efficient as possible. To ensure the life of the batteries and UPS system, we offer a preventive maintenance service whereby an EAST certified engineer will come on site to check all of your EAST products. During this process, the engineer will run several tests and carry out any maintenance work when required to do so.

The unique EAST BAT system provides the operator with in-depth knowledge and control of the batteries connected to the EA803. The BAT system guarantees optimal capacity and runtime throughout the life of the battery, ensuring that there is no loss of investment due to faulty batteries.

The operator can monitor and set predetermined thresholds in the system through the user-friendly web interface or the LCD display positioned on the side of the battery cabinets.The system can also be fully integrated with a building management system through the use of the industry standard SNMP protocol for communication.

Maintenance Services

The standard service support may not always meet your needs, and in these circumstances you can extend the help available to you by taking out one of our extra service support packages. These come in two different sizes: 1) 9x5: five days a week, nine hours a day 2) 24x7: seven days a week, 24 hours a day

The service engineers of EAST UPS are available 24/7 to assist you.

During the hours that support is available to you, the services on offer include full assistance via a customer help-line and email, next day on site repair or replacement, and a response time of four hours.

The EA803 is equipped with a multifunctional RS232 port. This can be used for dry contact, supplying relay functionality for a low battery, AC fail, and other common failures of customwired applications. It can also be connected to a computer or server for the standard shutdown software.

Standard Shutdown Software The EA803 is able to automatically shut down the server or computer when a power failure occurs. This software enables the UPS to instruct the operating systems to close down a PC when it is running unattended. Users can set the parameters with which to schedule the computer or server to shutdown, making sure that no significant data is lost and important backups are created. Updates will be automatically sent by email, so that users are always aware of what is happening, even at remote locations.

Communication Slot The multifunctional communication slot is conveniently located at the back of the UPS and can be used to accommodate a variety of accessory cards. The wide range of cards that are available means that the EA803 can be used for various applications and in numerous locations.

Intergration with the Building Management System

SNMP Card The SNMP card allows users to connect the EA803 directly to the ethernet network and the internet. This solution means that users can conveniently monitor and manage the UPS with a standard web browser, while simultaneously being able to shutdown multiple computers and operating systems over the network.

Environmental Card

GPRS Card

The environmental card provides the functionality with which to remotely monitor environmental and UPS conditions using a standard web browser, SNMPview, or third-party network management software. Users can observe the ambient temperature, humidity, or the presence of water in the remote location, along with the status of additional contact devices such as a smoke detector or an open-door/window sensor.

The GPRS card can be used with the EA803 and enables the user to have an in depth overview of the status of the UPS and the power at a particular location without any network or internet connection. The status can be viewed using the web interface, SNMPview or third-party network management software. As long as there is GPRS coverage, users will be able to deploy this card.

Relay I/O Card

USP’s

The Relay I/O card can be inserted in the SNMP slot at the back of the UPS, providing dry contact relay outputs for custom-wired applications and delivering support for the built-in shutdown of AS/400 systems. This option provides contact closures for the remote monitoring of alarm conditions in the UPS, delivering signals for On Battery, On Bypass, Low Battery, Summary Alarm, UPS Fault and On UPS.
