FRPM 09’ Special Issue PDS

This FRPM issue of Polymer Degradation and Stability comprises selected papers presented at the 12th European Meeting on Fire Retardant Polymers held in Poznan, Poland between 31st August and 3rd September 2009. It was the 12th conference in the series, the first one held in Poland, after successful FRPM Meetings that took place in Bolton (UK) in 2005 and Berlin (Germany) in 2007. The Conferences function as a platform for exchanging information between the academic and R&D groups and industrial organizations that both develop and implement the state-of-art solutions in flame retardant technology. FRPM 2009 Conference gathered almost 150 participants from 19 countries, including renowned scholars, outstanding researchers, representatives of the flame retardant industry and media. The papers that constitute this Special Issue have been carefully selected to reflect the scope of the Conference and its contribution to the field of fire retardant composite materials. The papers are arranged analogously to the FRPM Meeting sessions. Thus the

manuscripts concerning nanocomposites open the issue, and then the papers on latest developments in flame retardants and composites follow, with the articles on the textile uses of flame retardants to close the issue. The editors wish to express their thanks to Prof. Ryszard M. Kozlowski, the Chairman of FRPM 09 and all the reviewers who helped to guarantee the high academic level of the manuscripts.
