FATE ?
Some people have pain, others have no pain. Some people have always pain, others have never pain. Some are sick, some very sick, or crippled, handicapped ... or born with all kinds of anomalies, abnormalities ... Some people are extremely emotional, lazy, lethargic, depressed, burned out ... Others try to hide their emotions by becoming very mental and depending only on a small part of their body: ± 1,250 cm³ of brain.
People have always tried to find explanations for these – sometimes very important – differences between them. These explanations are always very mental, because they originate from a mentally oriented culture. They called it "fate", or "the mysterious ways of God". They talked, wrote, preached about "the will of God", the absolutely loving and at the same time very wrathful God (see Bible, Koran Torah). Religions have never found an answer, or even a glimpse of explanation to this "injustice". They have all the time tried to clarify the paradox with more paradoxes and mental acrobatics. That mental "fret and fume" finds its origin in ignorance and the "missing link" in the connection with all that is beyond the capacity of our senses.

KARMA
The only possible answer – that is even mentally acceptable – is karma. Karma and the theory of reincarnation tell us that we have lived hundreds (even thousands) of lives and that we gradually – through each life – build up a new one.
Everything must have started with a creator who wanted to see a reflection of himself, and out of endless love brought forth a creation in which human beings are the reflectors, - that are formed to the image of their creator, - and out of creative love have been given the absolute freedom to act against their creator, or in favour of his desires. Because every cause has an effect, it follows that all our ideas, emotions, desires, acts ... accumulate in positive or negative sense to our karma-line. They are the capital we collect to prepare the next reincarnation. That new life will be the result of everything that preceded. That would imply that we do not start from scratch in every new life, but that our conditionings and illusions from former lives might still play a role in this life.

DO WE REALLY "CONSTRUCT" OUR OWN LIFE ?
Yes, we do! We are fully responsible for the life/ the lives we live and have lived. There is no such thing as fate, and there is no mystery at all. God is not responsible for our thread of life. Wé are: we weave it all by ourselves.
God created the framework; we fill it up. Do we have to endure pain ? We - at least - prepared the tissue out of which it is spun. Do we cherish tendencies to emotional or mental instability or overreaction ? We are the alchemists of our own cocktail.
This also implies that our body and spirit/soul are not immaculate at birth. There is a residue of former activities in our chakras and especially in the Bhavasagara/Void. The name 'Void' is misleading, because it is not empty at all. It contains relics of our past.
We do not "know" this. It exists at an unconscious level, so that it cannot interfere with our aspirations in this life. We are ignorant about ourselves, because we don't have a connection to the Energy that created us.

A DIVINE PLAN ?
If there is a divine plan, it is forged out of love, it IS LOVE, the love that separated the Divine Creative Energy from Itself and set the creation into motion.
The Rishis tell us that the Divine Space–Time is divided in large periods in which different powers are playing: Satya Yuga, Dwapara Yuga, Treta Yuga and Kali Yuga.
Is it possible that all this is developing without a plan ? What do we understand by "plan" ? Is it a detailed structure of divine management ?
No, it is a general framework of love, with broad guidelines, within which the freedom of love can develop its own ways ... but not without a purpose: God needs a reflection of Himself. That reflection is creation, is love.

"What has to happen by knowing God is that: Why does God wants you to know him? Because He wants to see his reflection in you. He wants to see His reflection.
That's why He has created you and He wants to see His reflection in you. Same with the Goddess. She has given you self-realization, because She wants to see Her reflection in you. So you have to prepare yourself for that reflection, which is so much purer, beautiful, loving, compassionate and, above all, full of wisdom."
Krishna Puja, Cabella, Italy, 20.08.2000

"In the same way, God Almighty uses the creation to reflect or manifest Him. Without the creation, which is His reflection, God has no meaning or identity. The human mind is the only instrument created by the Divine Power capable of reflecting Him. Through His creation of human beings His identity is reflected and expressed in human awareness, and in that way God becomes aware of Himself."
The Book of Adi Shakti, Nirmala Vidya, New Jersey, USA, 2013, p. 4-5

THAT IS THE PLAN ... WITH ALL ITS CONSEQUENCES; it even allows us to develop a personal plan: our karma.

"But here, you don't feel you're doing anything. When you don't feel you are doing anything, how can you say then "Why?" Because I'm not doing anything, in any way, so I don't ask questions why. Do I? In any case, I'm not doing anything. That is the state where you are working in the Divine Plan. You are doing a lot of work, but nobody feels they are doing anything. They all think: 'We are absolutely just enjoying ourselves, doing nothing.' "
Sahasrara Puja, Cabella, Italy, 08.05.1993

"So, I would say, whole thing is a plan, which has worked out. You all took your birth at this special moment. Even if you see the position of stars and all that, you can see clearly how everything has clicked together. It's all a divine plan, but, in your case, it is your own decision because we are human beings and you have been given freedom to choose."
Birthday Puja Seminar, Delhi, India, 20.03.1993

"Now I have told, say, that the first creation which took place, before that, there were other higher creations which, which were planned by Adi Shakti to plan out the whole thing. So She created Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesha and She created their lokas, their atmospheres or, you can say, their areas. In that, all the planning was done, how we can achieve this: to make these animals realized souls. From animal to human beings and from human beings to realized soul. It was a very big problem. That's how they created, you see, as you know that Vishnu had His own loka, Mahesha had His own loka and Brahmadeva His own loka, and they decided among themselves: "How best We can do it", because these three channels were created in human beings later on."
Navaratri Puja, Cabella, Italy, 27.09.1992

« But now with this blessing of Sahasrara, you'll be amazed there is help from Paramchaitanya, and that means a tremendous help, because it acts globally, it acts individually, it acts on communities, it acts on nations, because there is divine, what you call divine, there is a divine play going on. And this divine play, plays tremendous beautiful things by which people start correcting themselves."
Sahasrara Puja, Cabella, Italy, 09.05.1999

Freedom allows a lot of possibilities in all directions: away from the divine plan (from one's own essence: the spirit, the divine within) or the opposite: towards God. Freedom without connection creates imbalance, that translates itself in ego or/and superego ... and that imbalance devours energy. Without connection there is ignorance and ignorance generates pain, suffering, uneasiness, rebellion, death, rebirth, war ... In the end it generates Kali Yuga: an era of adharma.

THE ROLE OF SELF-REALIZATION
To get connected – or reconnected – to our Divine Source we have to receive self-realization. That connection tells us that our essence is not the body, but the Self, the Spirit. The body is only the shell, the temple of the Spirit, of the Divine Spark within us. This connection is called "yoga", because the term 'yoga' means 'connection'. In Sahaja (spontaneous) Yoga we learn that it is a spontaneous, inbuilt possibility that from our (re)birth is waiting to be awakened in our "sacrum" (the only 'HOLY' BONE of our body).
This 'awakening' can be performed by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, the founder of Sahaja Yoga, as we can experience in:

Also a Sahaja yogi (a follower of Shri Mataji), who has received self-realization, can give it to others. (It is rather difficult to obtain it by our own desire; only a few people managed to do so in the spiritual history of humanity.) Self-realization awakens the vital force, the Kundalini, within us and removes the ignorance that blinded our view on truth and reality. The so called 'truth' and 'reality' that we perceive through our senses is only a weak manifestation (maya) of the absolute Truth and Reality behind/beyond it. To get acquainted with the 'truth and reality beyond' we need a language that can capture them and that is the language of vibrations. Self-realization enables us to "understand" the vibrations of our chakras (spiritual power stations in our body), of others, of everything that emits vibrations. That's the reason why it is called "nirmal vidya": pure knowledge. We don't have to believe this blindly; the language of vibrations can be felt on our fingertips and on top of our head in the form of a gentle Cool Breeze. (Initially there might be a tickling sensation or warmth, when there are anomalies in the chakras.) To activate this language of the Kundalini we will have to loosen the ties of our ego (mental structure) and superego (emotional structure). We'll have to accept what the Kundalini reveals to us, without trying to impose our ideas or emotions on what we observe. That can only be done in "THOUGHTLESS AWARENESS", which is a form of 'surrender', of 'meditation'

Self-realization removes ignorance and – through the language of vibrations – connects to Truth and Reality.
That is called "Nirmal Vidya": pure (spiritually pure) knowledge. The language of vibrations is the language of Kundalini, of our own vital force and of the power of the Divine Creative Energy, that is reflected in the Kundalini. After that the question will be if we listen to the language of vibrations (of our Kundalini), if we listen to the language of that Divine Creative Energy, or to the language of the world, the language of the body ... That attitude asks for detachment, for surrendering, for acceptance, for humility, for belief in oneself/Self.
This is the only way to resolve karma, to make it undone. If we are not able to do so, we will become nihilistic and can't do otherwise than see oneself and the world as meaningless. And this attitude might provoke fear or/and rebellion ... insurrection of ego (domination, wanting to organise 'it' by ourselves) or superego (lethargic surrender to inward or outward movements of the imagination), which causes suffering, pain, death of the spiritual essence within us.

"There were so many people till now in this world who could achieve [self-realization]. One or two were there in every Yuga [era].You have met, seen and known, so many people in this world, how many are realized? Very few you will find. And today it is great naad [sound] of Kali Yuga… There are so many animals today… The animals without tails. But in this Kali Yuga itself, in this dirty mud a great work has to be accomplished, you know it is happening…"
Talk, Mumbai,India, 21.12.1975

"So one should have no fear, the fear of death has to go away. So many of them have said the same, that: What is death after all ? Death dies itself once you are resurrected. So one should not be afraid of death. Now how many of you have been afraid of death before your resurrection, but not now. You are not bothered as to when the death comes, what happens, or which way you are going to be so-called destroyed. You know you cannot be destroyed, in your heart of hearts, you all know this very well, that you cannot be destroyed. The fear of our destruction goes away, no doubt.
(...)
So there is no truthful life it's all just showing off and thinking no end of yourself but when the death will come at your doorsteps, what will you do? At that time, you will be trembling, with all your so called achievements, and so called showing off, you will just tremble before death. But a Sahaja Yogi cannot, he wouldn't lie, if the death has to come, it has to come. He will not tremble that the death is something dangerous, but it is a place where he can go and rest, he wouldn't mind, he wouldn't mind anything, because he is above death. He is above destruction, so he wouldn't mind anything whatever comes his way, and he will surrender to it easily. We have Kabir, Kabir has written so many poems mostly about death. He said, when death came, I didn't say a single word, I didn't fight, but what I did I took a sheet on top of me and went off to sleep. How sweetly he describes death sometimes, and Kabir then reminds me of Christ. How sweetly Christ also went through all these things and when he died, the whole elements shook, he was the master of elements, they shook, there was earthquakes, and all kinds of things that happened. They, they felt his death, not he. They felt that such a great divinity, which is the essence of existence, has been killed like this. They also didn't know that he was going to come back to his life. They also were not aware of it, but he did, he did come out of that deadening pain for which everybody was so much shocked. His death, itself, gives us strength that we have no death, we have resurrected and resurrection is with us. But we have to establish, we have to establish our Sahaja Yoga, our meditation that's very important."
Easter Puja, Istanbul, Turkey, ??.04.1999

"Death is not this body disappearing, death is where you are absolutely without any control of your soul live."
Sahasrara Puja, Cabella, Italy, 08.05.1995

"(...) everybody who is born has to die, but the way they have made the death as some sort of a big part of life. It's just a moment, just a moment that you pass out and you go and change and come back again."
Diwali Puja, Cabella, Italy, 10.11.1991

"As human beings we are free to choose right and wrong. We have, through traditions, developed lot of correct ideas about right and wrong but there have been lots of saints and seers who have given us a complete idea about what is right and what is wrong. Despite that we find it difficult to be righteous, to be virtuous, to be what we believe in. We see something, we hear something, we know something that it is good, that we should be like that, but we just can't do it. We are not samarth. We are not capable of doing what we believe in. The reason for this is because we are not integrated personalities. Our brains say something, our heart says another thing and our liver does another thing. So we are divided into 3-4 personalities and that's why we cannot integrate ourselves. To integrate ourselves we have to become something that is integrated within ourselves. Now this integrated self is the Spirit. The Spirit resides in the heart. It is said by all the seers, but in Sahaja Yoga now we can prove it, that it does reside. That is, God Almighty reflects Himself in the heart as Spirit. And the Spirit is the one which is watching us all the time. The Spirit does not manifest in our attention. If it starts manifesting in our attention then we start feeling on our central nervous system, the coolness of the Spirit, the vibrations of the Spirit, the manifestation of the Spirit."
