HORMÔNIOS NA PRODUÇÃO DE MODOS DE SUBJETIVAÇÃO: ATUANDO CONTROVÉRSIAS

Esta tese visa analisar agenciamentos produzidos pelos hormônios na conformação de modosde subjetivação contemporâneos. Os modos de subjetivação são aqui compreendidos comorede mutável e permeável que envolve a associação de diversos elementos, humanos e nãohumanos. Defendemos a tese de que os hormônios atuam na conformação de dispositivos degoverno de si, na sociedade contemporânea, numa dinâmica que inclui mudanças, efeitos eriscos (im)previsíveis e (in)desejáveis. Neste sentido, pretendemos: 1) analisar relações entreos saberes sobre os hormônios e a produção de efeitos de verdade; 2) analisar regulações dasexualidade e práticas de feminilização e masculinização agenciadas pelos hormônios. Aabordagem teórico-metodológica adotada se alinha aos estudos de Michel Foucault,especialmente, em seus escritos sobre modos de subjetivação e se aproxima de algunsconceitos postulados por pesquisadores/as alinhados/as à Teoria Ator-Rede (TAR) que nosajudam a compreender aspectos relativos aos hormônios como atuantes na conformação dosmodos de subjetivação. O corpus de análise foi constituído a partir de vídeos disponibilizadospublicamente pela indústria farmacêutica Bayer, uma das empresas de maior expressãointernacional na produção e comercialização de hormônios, totalizando 34 vídeos. Otratamento desse material foi organizado em três curvas de análise, em consonância com osobjetivos da tese: 1) produção de efeitos de verdade e saber biomédico; 2) hormônios efeminilização; 3) hormônios e masculinização. Concluímos que os hormônios têm produzidosefeitos diversos, entre eles a atualização do modelo binário de sexo, que, entre outras coisas,associa a mulher à função reprodutiva e os homens ao exercício da sexualidade. Tais premissasnormatizadoras instituem determinados modos de subjetivação e constrangem a diversidade ea plasticidade. Essa tese coloca em questão os dualismos homem- mulher, natureza-cultura,natural-artificial para questionar a naturalização dos efeitos dos hormônios, trazendo taissubstâncias para o debate ético-político, a fim de produzir novo devires mais criativos epotentesThis thesis aims at analyzing hormone-produced actions in the conformation of contemporarymodes of subjectivation. The modes of subjectivation are understood here as a mutable andpermeable network which involves the association of various elements, human and nonhuman. We defend the thesis that hormones act in the conformation of self governancedevices in contemporary society, in a dynamic that includes (un) predictable and (un) desirablechanges, effects and risks. In this sense, we intend: 1) to analyze relations between theknowledge about the hormones and the production of the effects of truth; 2) to analyzeregulations of sexuality and practices of feminization and masculinization caused by hormones.The theoretical-methodological approach adopted is aligned with the studies of MichelFoucault, especially in his studies on modes of subjectivation and approaches some conceptspostulated by researchers aligned with the Actor-Network Theory (ANT) that help us tounderstand aspects related to hormones as acting in the conformation of modes ofsubjectivation. The corpus of analysis consisted of videos made publicly available by thepharmaceutical industry Bayer, one of the most internationally famous companies in theproduction and commercialization of hormones, totaling 34 videos. The treatment of thismaterial was organized in three large units of analysis, in line with the objectives of the thesis:1) production of truth effects and biomedical knowledge; 2) hormones and feminization; 3)hormones and masculinization. We conclude that hormones have produced diverse effects,among them the updating of the binary sex model, which, among other things, associateswomen with the reproductive function and men with the exercise of sexuality. Such normativepremises institute certain modes of subjectivation and constrain diversity and plasticity. Thisthesis calls into question the male-female, nature-culture, natural-artificial dualisms toquestion the naturalization of the effects of hormones, bringing such substances into politicaland ethical debate, in order to produce new, more creative and powerful ways of being
