How does Nigeria differ from China?

Nigeria is located in the western part of Africa and it is officially called the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It was created by the British colonial rulers through the amalgamation of southern and northern colony under the British control in 1914. It got its independent in 1960. Nigeria is situated between Benin in the west, Chad and Cameroon in the east and Niger in the north, while it has border with the Atlantic Ocean in the south. It practices a multi-party democratic government and comprises of 36 states.
Just like China in Asia, Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa. Although having about 182 million people, it is the country with the highest population of black people in the world. By 2050, the UN estimated that Nigeria will be the 3rd most populated country in the world right behind China. The country has over 200 ethnic groups speaking more than 500 different languages. The major groups are the Hausa occupying most areas in the north, the Igbos who reside in the east and the Yoruba dominating the western region. The official language is English; however, pidgin English is commonly spoken. The country is roughly divided equally in terms of religion, with the north being dominantly Muslims and the south predominantly Christians.
Nigeria, also just like China is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It is often referred to as giant of Africa owing to its large population and economy. In 2015, while China was the 2nd highest economy in the world and highest in Asia, Nigeria became the 20th in the world and the largest in Africa. In economy positioning, Nigeria is a member of the MINT groups of countries, which are widely seen as the world next BRIC-like economies where China belongs to.
Nigeria is Chinese largest trade partner in Africa. While China imports crude oil from the country, it exports technology and services (construction) to Nigeria. Petroleum and oil resources plays a large role in the Nigerian economy. The country is the 6th largest producer of petroleum in the world; it is the 8th largest exporter and has the 10th largest proven reserves. Since the first commercial oil exploration in Nigeria in 1970s, Nigeria has neglected agriculture which use to be the mainstay of the economy. The country has become overly-dependent on its oil sector whereas other areas of the economy such as agriculture, palm oil production and coconut processing are in decline. It is often said that oil brought more harm than good to Nigeria. The country used to be one of the world highest exporter of groundnut, oil palm, cocoa but recently it is struggling to feed it over increasing population.
About 60 percent of Nigerian is poor if the 1.95 dollar PPP is used to calculate the poverty index of the country while this percentage will reduce if calculated with the Nigeria currency. However, it is still behind china which have a poverty rate of less than 10%. Food scarcity, uncoordinated government development policy, political instability and religious crises has characterized the history of the country. The most recent news about Nigeria is the deadly attacks of extremist (boko haram) mostly in the northern part of the country and the successful election which saw the change of power from one politically elected party to another.
While Nigeria might have its domestic issues, it has succeeded in many other aspects. The country survived a civil war which could have broken the country in 1969, it was able to stop Ebola spread in less than 2 months, its economy has picked up and it is regarded as an emerging economy even after many years of dictatorship, coup and looting and recently the current president is actively fighting corruption. The country is diverse in every ramification and it always come out stronger after any ethnic crises. The country is lovely with a large landscape and vegetation. Language, culture, religion, tribal marks differ across the country but each ethnicity is welcoming and enterprising. Nigeria is truly an epitome of Unity in diversity.
