PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN



A work professional development plan its always crucial to help with the individual professional growth, in order to perform and exceed expectations in the workplace. It is a strategy that gives professionals a blueprint to meet their goals and objectives in their career. It is important to keep in mind that meeting the goals of the workplace development plan and exceeding in job performance depends on each person.


In this presentation, the team leader will address the characteristics of the entire green team. The team leader will identify the talent, skills, strengths, weaknesses and the resources needed to help the members of the green team to reach their career objectives. This identification of skills will be based on the individual DISC Platinum Rule about Behavioral Style Assessment completed by each member of the green team in week one of the Organizational Leadership Class.

The DISC Platinum Rule

The DISC Platinum Rule Behavioral Style Assessment it is an important tool that is being used in this project. After the members of the green team had answered strategic questions, the assessment produced results about the team member's behavioral style, described below:

Base, on the above results, Green Team could be divided into three different group styles These styles are, the dominance, cautious and the interactive. According to these results, there is a high predominance of the interactive style, one team member with the cautious style and one team member with the dominance style. Unfortunately, the steadiness style not represented but our team has enough diversity in behavior styles to be effective.


Green Team

Information has been collected from each member of the green team. This information will identify each team member's skills, strengths, opportunities, and the resources needed to help them reach their goals.

Blihovde, Marlyse – Dominance Style – The Producer

Skills: This kind of style likes fast-paced business interaction, problem-solving, is task oriented and enjoys being in control of the situation.
Strengths: Work quickly and is self-motivated, hard worker, goal achiever, strives to accomplish bigger and better goals.
Weaknesses: Marlyse likes to have all work under control and over exceeding expectations and also working overtime to complete her goals. The Dominance style likes to be hands on in most situations even when tasks are easily delegated to other team members.
Resources: The resources to help this style to increase skills and achieve goals are to take advantage of the experience and knowledge of other team members, learning their strengths and weaknesses and developing confidence in the other team member's ability to perform. The other improvement needed is in educating oneself. This education can be from articles from the Internet and reading research journals on Human Resources.

Dunbar, Michael – The Cautious – The Assessor

Skills: This style is organized, can easily multi-task, and is an excellent evaluator of situations and people.
Strengths: This type of personality is cautious and does not take unnecessary chances, is analytical, persistent, detail-oriented, and likes to solve problems.
Weaknesses: Under this kind of style, a person wants to accomplish many goals, but has a hard time completing them all on time. Finally, this kind of style has difficulty working under pressure and staying in control with himself and others.
Resources: This kind of style needs a time to look at around his environment to give himself the opportunity to know his team and have confidence in their abilities. Then he can delegate tasks to meet deadlines and reduce stress. Also, it is important to have stress reduction through meditation and other relaxation techniques.

Knarr, Kelly and Olenkiewicz, Nicole – The Interactive – The Impresser

Skills: This style is relationship-oriented, tries to exceed expectations, and has excellent people and communication skills.
Strengths: Enthusiastic, charming, persuasive, optimistic, and has an abundance of charisma.
Weaknesses: Organizational skills can at times be lacking and like the cautious style, has difficulty with stress and pressure situations.
Resources: One crucial recommendation for this style is to take a stress-management course to learn how to work under pressure and learn to be less emotional while working to responder in better ways as a leader. This style needs to work on organization techniques through training and continuing education.

Bowen, Jay – The Interactive – The socializer

Skills: This style is very social, is receptive to change and adjust well to diverse situations .
Strengths: Natural tendency to meet people, speak freely about any subject, praise people, optimistic.
Weaknesses: Can start several projects and activities but finish few of them completely and on time.
Resources: For this kind of behavioral style, it is recommended to focus in one project at a time and commit himself to complete such project in order do no affect the team productivity. This person needs to set goals with a deadline on projects.


Characteristics of Green Team

The Green Team has a predominantly Interactive Style. The interactive style is full of energy, and their strengths are more relationship oriented. Keeping in mind that business is not just about relationships, but also having organizational skills, and leadership skills that will be necessary to focus and redirect the group moving forward to succeed. Considering that Michael has a cautious style of behavior, he would be valuable to the team leader as an assistant leader. Michael fits perfectly as an assistant because one of his strengths is that he likes to accomplish goals with excellence and can multitask in any job environment. Michael would do a great job helping the interactive team to focus their duties and move forward to succeed. However, Michael needs to learn to lead by example. He is enthusiastic about starting a project but at times has difficulty completing his duties on schedule. At this point, the team Leader Marlyse plays an important role, and her behavioral style play an important role. Marlyse, the team leader, is a producer and hard worker, her strengths are about accomplishing bigger and better goals, will guide Michael to stay on task and complete projects on time.

Leading Green Team

Under the above circumstances, the team leader can put in practice her skills, such as being a high producer and ambitions person that leads for success. The team leader will have to show that she can be a good listener, and will invite and motivate the group to actively participate in a team assignment. A key to help the green team to succeed, will be to delegate diverse functions to each of the team members. Follow up and feedback will be essential, especially with team members that need special support. One the team member from the group, named Jay, told to the group that he suffers from "Bipolar disorder and needs to be redirected at times. The team leader must make sure to support and encourage Jay through his academic progress and fulfill the team's goal of no team member being left behind. In order to control the pressure, the leader must be able to demonstrate her commitment with the goals, objectives and vision of the team. Most leaders, possess the ability to translate the goals of the team, to the hearts of each team member. A leader must always be alert to the changes in the work environment such as cultural, political or economic changes. These changes require a flexible leader who knows how to adequately keeping the team moving in the right direction.




Conclusion

This professional development plan helps to understand each team member and the way to guide the whole team to success. It's important that all team members have the right development plan, keeping in mind their own goals and how to be involved with the team.
This presentation shows that recognizing each team member of the green team's weaknesses and strengths, can help to know how to work together efficiently and therefore reach their goals.
