IS 2007 PC Co-chairs’ Message

IS 2007 PC Co-chairs’ Message On behalf of the Program Committee of the 2nd International Symposium on Information Security (IS 2007), it was our great pleasure to welcome the participants to IS 2007, held in conjunction with OnTheMove Federated Conferences (OTM 2007), during November 25–30, 2007, in Vilamoura, Portugal. In recent years, significant advances in information security have been made throughout the world. The objective of the symposium was to promote information securityrelated research and development activities and to encourage communication between researchers and engineers throughout the world in this area. In response to the call for papers, a total of 82 submissions were received, from which 20 were carefully selected for presentation in 6 technical sessions and 3 for poster presentation. Each paper was peer reviewed by at least three members of the Program Committee or additional reviewers. The symposium program covered a variety of research topics, which are of current interest, such as access control and authentication, network security, intrusion detection, system and services security, malicious code and code security and finally trust and information management. These technical presentations addressed the latest research results from international industry and academia and reported on findings in information security. We thank all the authors who submitted valuable papers to the symposium. We are grateful to the members of the Program Committee and to the additional reviewers. Without their support, the organization of such a high-quality symposium program would not have been possible. We are also indebted to many individuals and organizations that made this event happen, in particular Springer. Last but not least, we are grateful to the OTM Organizing Committee and Chairs for their help in all aspects of the organization of this symposium. We hope that you enjoy the proceedings of the 2nd International Symposium on Information Security and find it a useful source of ideas, results and recent findings. August 2007
