Metacercariae of Clinoswmum spp. have been repot1ed from a variety of North American salaman ders, namely, the 3-toed amphiuma, Amphiuma {ridGetylum from Louisiana (Bennett and Humes. 1938); barred tiger salamander, Amhystorna mavor rium from Texas (Miller et aI., 2004; Gray et aL, 2(07); cave salamander, ElI1ycea lucifuga from Tennessee (McAllister ei aI., 2(07); Texas salaman der, Ewycea neolenes from Texas (McAllister, 1990); eastern newt, No{ophlhalmwr viridescens from Massachusetts (McAllister, .1990) and Michigan (Muzzall, 1991 a); and greater siren, Siren lacertina from Florida (Manter, 1938). I-l.erein. we prav ide I new host record for ClinoslOmllm ottenlloturn and 2 new 'hOSt records and a neW locality record for metacercariae of Clinoslomum marginalum. In addi tion, a list of the North American amphibian hosts of metacercariae of ClinMlomum spp. is provided (Table 1).

Pond. Stone County, Arkansas, U.S.A. (36.0000'N, 92.1 X05 c W). Fifty-one (46 males, 5 female~, SVL "" 70 86 mm) Jefferson salamanders. Amhys/oma je'/j'ersonial1um (Green, 1827), and 59 ~malJ-mouthed salamanders, Ambys toma 1l'X(J/Il1m (Matthes, 1855) (35 males, 24 females; SVL = 70-119 mm), were collected bet ween 12 and 19 March 2008 with un baited minnow Iraps from Zone 16 in Clark County. IIIinoi~. U.S.A. (39.1948"N, 87.4724·'W). All salamanders wilh suspected yellow grub (ClinostomllJ11 spp.) infection were returned to the laboratory and euthanized with a dilute Chloretone@ (chlorobutanol) solution. Lesions (Fig. I) were excised to reveal Ihe unknown worms (Fig. 2). which were fixed unflattened in 10% neutral buffered fornlalin, transferred to 70% ethanol, stained with Semichon's ace!()Cannine, and mounled in Canada Balsam. Parasite idenlifications were based on lhese >50 cxci~ed worms. Host voucher specimens are deposilcd in the Arkansas State University Herpetological Museum (ASUMZ). State University. Arkansas. U.S.A., as ASUMZ 30933 (A. mawlalum), 31144 (A~ je.!fer.l'olliallllm). and 31143 (A. texa/lwn). Pamsile vouchcrs were deposited in the U.S. National Parasite Collection (USNPC). Beltsville, Maryland, U.S.A. as USNPC WI 161-101163. Amphibian taxonomy in Table I follows Frost (20011).

MATERIALS AND METHODS

RESUl.TS

Seventy-two (46 males. 26 females, snout-vent length rSVLl = 69-101 mm) spotted salamanders, Ambystonla mlll'ulalum (Shaw, 1802) were collected on 5 and 19 February 2008 with 19-1iicr buekd pilfall traps from Stout

All excised lesions contained clinosromid meta cercariae of various sizes and ages. A total of 18 of 198 (9.1 %) ambystonlatid salamanders, including 13 of 51 (25.5%) A. jeffersonianum and 4 of 69 (5.8%) A. leXGnum from east-central Illinois were found to be
