Variation. Some specimens more elongate and more slender. The suture of the body whorl can be deeply channeled, but can also be ledged only. It can be crenulate, but incidentally the knobs on the suture appear as a start of axial ribbing. Dead-collected specimens tend to become yellowish with more pronounced bands. Size rangrng fuom24 to 29 mm. Habitat. On coral sand at depths between 150-500 m.

Distribution.Chesterfield Islands, Mer du Coral (Coral Sea), New Caledonia and Vanuatu. Etymology. The name is based on the white, marble-like, translucent mineral alabaster. Rernarks.-
