Descrição do Produto

This article discusses the possibilitiesof establishing a working collaborationbetween Ethnology and Archaeology, based on an analysis of the processes offormation, concentration and dispersionof the indigenous groups that form thecultural complex known as Tarumã-Parukoto (which today occupy the borderregion between Brazil, Guyana andSuriname). In this Amazon region andelsewhere, we can hardly define wherethe borders of a social or ethnic groupbegins and ends and thus it becomes almostimpossible to match with precisiona particular ethnic group to a particularterritory. In the past and in the present, the fluid borders of groups, movingin space and time, prove to be aneven greater challenge for a comparativeperspective between Ethnology and Archaeology.
