He pointed out that Petronas recently announced its CSR contribution of RM90 million to Sarawak for the year 2015 alone, a testimony that Petronas is fully committed to assist the state. For education, he said the focus programmes are along the scope of technical skills development and enhancing graduates employability. Some of these programmes include the construction of a new Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) in Bintulu and two Asrama Desa for rural students, adoption of five schools in Lundu under the Trust School Programme; enhancement of technical skills development under the Vocational Institution Sponsorship and Training Assistance Programme (Vista), and many more. “Petronas will also increase its educational sponsorship under the Program Sentuhan Ilmu Petronas (PSIP) and Petronas Education Sponsorship Programme (PESP) for Sarawak students. This year, the Grand Award worth RM1,000 went to Andrew Teo Yuan Loong from Music Programme. Four others – Bidwin Molundim (Design Technology), Yeap Swee Leong (Cinematography), Lim Ee Vee (Fine Art) and Lee Ying Quan (Art Management) received RM500 each. Also present at the ceremony was Unimas deputy vice chancellor Profesor Mohd Fadzil Abdul Rahman, who on behalf of the university thanked Unimas for the various funding and support.
