Citihealth expresses grave concern over illegal acts in pharma sector Citihealth, having its main office at No: 29/3, Kirimandala Mawatha, Nawala, has been a leading corporate citizen in the field of pharmaceuticals for the past 17 years maintaining an unblemished record throughout this period. Not only has Citihealth won the hearts and minds of all citizens of the country as a provider of quality pharmaceuticals at affordable prices, it has also been fully compliant with all law enforcement and regulatory bodies functioning under the Health Ministry and all other governmental institutions. Cipla Limited of Mumbai Central, India has maintained a strong relationship with Citihealth and has supported the latter to the fullest extent by supplying pharmaceutical products of the highest quality to the patient population of Sri Lanka to make Citihealth the pioneer company in this country to market all its products at the most competitive and affordable prices. The mere fact that Cipla has become the ‘Top Pharmaceutical Brand’ in the year 2007 from among the umpteen brands being marketed in this country provides ample evidence of the useful role played by Citihealth in our motherland. Citihealth has maintained this coveted position unchallenged up until now. The medical fraternity practicing the ‘Noble Profession’ of healing the sick knows and openly acknowledges the soundness of the services rendered to the needy patients of this country by the symbiotic alliance between Cipla of India and Citihealth of Sri Lanka. Citihealth also has amply displayed its exemplary role as a responsible corporate citizen by maintaining an absolutely professional team of medical promotional delegates and also by providing several free health services to patients by way of complimentary diagnostic measures such as spirometer and peak flow meter screening at the asthma clinics throughout the country. The company has also been fully compliant with tax and all other financial regulations in force in the country by being up to date with all dues payable to the state without leaving any arrears whatsoever. The company has watched with dismay and disdain the recent reports in the print and electronic media, the violation of the basic ethics of the pharmaceutical trade of attempts to alter dates of expiry and a host of other illegal acts. These villains seem to have forgotten the fact that they are playing with human lives especially those of critically ill patients who depend on pharmaceutical companies for healing of their illnesses. Citihealth has always condemned such shameful acts with the highest degree of contempt. Almost from the inception, we have been a responsible member of the Sri Lankan Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry, which stands firmly to ensure the maintenance of the highest standards of compliance with quality and other parameters for the well-being of the pharmaceutical industry and the patient population in the country.
