Misfortunes of Rizal

The greatest misfortune of Jose Rizal was when he learned from Saturnina, the deportation of Paciano and other Calamba tenants, and when he received a copy of ejectment order by the dominicans against Francisco Rizal and the Calamba tenants. Rizal seeks help from the Filipino colony, the Asociacion Hispano-Filipina and the liberal Spanish newspapers in securing justice for the oppressed Calamba tenants including his family. He tried all the legal means to seek justice for his family and the tenants but to no avail he failed to get justice for his family. And another misfortune is when Rizal Eulogy to Panganiban. Rizal settled down in Madrid, when he experienced another disappointment. This was the doleful news that his friend, Jose Ma. Panganiban, his talented co-worker in the propaganda Movement died in Barcelona after a lingering illness. He deeply mourned the passing of this Bicol hero. And the other misfortune is when Rizal duel with Antonio Luna and he challenges Retana to duel. Another great misfortune of Jose Rizal when he is in Madrid, when he lost the gold watch chain with a locket containing the picture of his beloved sweetheart Leonor Rivera and when his beloved sweetheart Leonor Rivera send him a letter saying that she will going to marry a British engineer because of her mother choice so she is asking for the forgiveness to his love Rizal. Rizal got frustrated because of the letter he received from the women he love Leonor Rivera, his heart got broken. In order to survive the failure he had with Leonor he open up his problem to his beloved best of friends Blumentritt, so Blumentritt advise him that maybe Leonor is not really meant to him and because of the advice of his best friend Rizal become strong to fight the failure he had with Leonor. Rizal, saying that his wife cannot understand how a woman whom a Rizal has honored with his love, love would be able to abandon him and said that Rizal has a courageous heart, and he is in love with a nobler woman, the Motherland. Blumenttrit sent another letter to Rizal saying that if Leonor was able to renounce a Rizal, she did not possess the nobility of his spirit. In other words, she is not the woman for Rizal. Another misfortune happened toward the closing days of 1890 where arose an unfortunate rivalry between Rizal and M.H. del Pilar for supremacy. Because of this, the Filipinos were divided into two hostile camps—the Rizalistas and the Pilaristas. The situation was becoming explosive and critical. Despite of winning the votes, Rizal graciously declined the coveted position Rizal wrote a brief note thanking his compatriots for electing him as Responsible. It was the last time he saw Madrid.
