Madhvacárya, or Madhva, in the template of Indian philosophy, holds a pre-eminent position as the exponent supreme of the Dvaita [Dualist] school of Vedanta. His philosophy glorifies five differences [bheda]. It refutes the monists’ stand [of God and man being one entity] in a novel way, saying that: God is different from the Universe; God is different from ‘I’; ‘I’ is different from ‘you’; and, ‘I am’ is different from [say] the table, which is different from the chair.
