CONCEPT
This report deals with the conceptual approach for the design of a space based on a theme. The notions of Tangible and Intangible metaphors are used to understand the design in a better way. The idea of FRACTAL is seen a beacon in this design approach.

INTRODUCTION

Design is a cohesive process in architecture which has pre and post approaches associated with it. The pre- approach is usually termed as thought process. As the famous quotation says, everything is created two times in this world, once in the mind and then in the reality, such is the power of the thought, this approach based on the concept can be seen as an expression in the design. This is how an architect communicates his work , his ideas reverberates on this concepts, the concepts to a given design can develop from any existent realistically present features or an altogether new proposal standing as an icon for the future. Bilbao Guggenheim museum designed by Frank.O.Ghery has a very interesting form; he says that the elements in his form are inspired from the nuances of the urban public. The word metaphor derived from grammatical language or phrase of expression. The word metaphor defined as a direct comparison between two or more seemingly unrelated subjects. Being known in its usage in literature, especially in poetry, metaphor has been described in few words, emotions, and associations from one context with objects and entities in any other different context or meanings.
THE CONCEPT and THE AFTERMATH
The aim is to create a space depicting the theme of TORTOISE. The approach towards the design actually laid focus on Form and Function and deriving metaphors from the tortoise .Form/space has a crucial relation in this design in which the form has to go in tune with the space adjoining within This development can be seen in replicating the notion of Tortoise in the crux of the Design. The form thus developed is a tangible metaphor describing the shell of a tortoise. The hexagonal lattice is taken as a unit and is applied all over the dome surface. The lines defining the hexagons are projected out to signify the lattice. The core concept of the design is based on the element of fear which the tortoise encounters which makes it to shell itself from the outside. It is said that it stays in that situation from hours and can extend till days, the dome colour selected the sadness associated with this situation .The form of the design only portrays its shell but not its legs, owing to the fact of its slow walk, the form doesn't symbolise it, but the aspect of movement is shown in the inclination of dome surface over its entrance. The black scheme used depicts its sorrowness unable to rise to the occasion, its fear complex is being depicted in the low rise openings over its sides, which is a metaphor which can be understood similar to a kid who hides inside the blanket and peeps through small holes to check whether the enemy is gone. This activity is given more importance in this design approach, basically it a tangible metaphor to a tortoise shell. The aspect of feelings and behaviour of the specimen is given importance in this design. The colour yellow symbolises its jovial, bright, spiritual touch assigned to it. Tortoise is one of the most loved pet animals in the world; the loving colour of blue is given over one of its ends. The colours of green symbolises its attachment with nature, the colour red shows its agony and pain during its position of shelling itself within. The circular grid around the dome reflects the inner hidden feelings of a tortoise when it is shelled. Over one side colour yellow is used to depict the qualities of warm, cheerful, jovial, sunny, bright, and radiant. The main entrance to the dome signifies circulation, bringing an analogy to the head of the tortoise. Here the activity of its head is taken as metaphor to signify the notion of entrance. The entire design activity is to portray the inner hidden feelings of tortoise and make the viewer catch the meaning the first instance he sees it, hence forms replicating the hexagonal pattern of the tortoise shell have been intricately adapted in the design.
The base colour is purposely chosen black to portray the dismay of tortoise The hexagons are marked by black and it spills on the ground and merges with the base covering the bright colours, this has a deeper understanding to it, the inner feelings of joy, warmth, colour are being suppressed by the dominant element of fear which the tortoise is unable to overcome, once it overcomes its weakness then all these dullness winds away from it.
