Q1: Based on the book, "Total Leadership," by Stewart D. Friedman, read Chapter 2 "Clarify what's important to you." From the list of core values (pages 18-20) choose a set of five to nine values that are most important to you. Briefly explain why each value is important to you in one or two sentences.

Ans 1:
Achievement: Achievement is my way to keep track of progress. Achieving is a value that drives me to perform faster and better (best).
Humor: I the life filled with worries, sadness and pain, I try to find humor in everything, as it helps decrease the effect of above three.
Economic security: To get anything thing materialistic we need money. At almost every step of life we need money, from luxuries to necessity and Economic security ensures we have money.
Health: In order to reach for points 1 and 3, health suffers most and we require health to maintain achievement and economic security. Also, when there is health issue with our loved ones, we forget all other points then health.
Knowledge: getting knowledge is instinctively important for me. And if I need reasons for it, it will be that is required for achievement economic security and even health.
Family: family is important for me, It's my life. It's instinctively important for me, I have never thought why it is important for me. Everything I do or desire is for them or with them.

2. Read Chapter 3 "Take the Four-Way View" and attempt the following exercises
a. The Four Way Attention Chart exercise on pages 5-6. Complete the chart and respond to the three questions on page 6.

Consequence of my current choice of focus of time and energy on current choice of work/carrier / school is currently affecting the 2 domains of my life (self and family).
I would like to decrease importance of work to 25-30 and increase self to 30.
Keeping increased focus on work for next few years and then reach a point from where I can gradually decrease it to the desired level.


b. "The Four Circles" exercise on page 9 and draw your four circles as per the instructions given. Attempt the exercise on page 10 about the compatibility or conflict between the four domains of your life.
Ans 2 B: First, I need to bring my work and family circles overlap each other, which should bring all four circles closer. Inputting balanced time in both work and family should be step 1. Involving my family with work by sharing and discussing work decisions with family should also help.

i. Are you satisfied with how things are going with respect to each domain?
ii. Are these ratings consistent with your values and aspirations?
iii. What steps might you take to bring the four domains into greater harmony?

Ans 2 C:
No I am not satisfied with how things are going with respect to each domain .
The ratings are consistent with my current aspirations, but not completely with values or overall aspirations.
First, I need to bring my work and family circles overlap each other, which should bring all four circles closer. Inputting balanced time in both work and family should be step 1. Involving my family with work by sharing and discussing work decisions with family should also help.
